ifplug: ifplugd is a Linux daemon which will automatically configure your 
ifplug: ethernet device when a cable is plugged in and automatically 
ifplug: unconfigure it if the cable is pulled. This is useful on laptops with 
ifplug: onboard network adapters, since it will only configure the interface 
ifplug: when a cable is really connected. This package also comes with 
ifplug: ifplugstatus, a tool to detect whether a network interface is 
ifplug: connected / active.
